Avery made her first appearance as a flower girl in our dear friend Katherine's wedding a few weeks ago. Katherine was my little sister in Pi Delta at Lipscomb. The main reason I so badly wanted Katherine as my "little" was because M had known Katherine since she was born, and as Katherine said to us the night of her rehearsal dinner, "you were like the big brother I never had." So when Katherine asked Avery to be a flower girl in her wedding, we were incredibly honored! Such a joy to be able to celebrate such occasions with lifelong friends. Katherine is so very special to us both, and we are so happy that she has found Ben!
On another note, Avery kept referring to the event as "my wedding" and that she was going to wear "my white wedding dress." The day of the wedding when she put the dress on she looked in the mirror and said with amazement, "I look so beautiful!" We are not short on self confidence ;). After finally throwing her petals, she decided it would be best to pick them up and put them back in her basket.
